Brighten Grey Hair With These Natural Treatments & Hair Care Tips
Brighten grey hair with the following natural treatments and hair care tips. With more women embracing their gray hair and craving organic hair care, it stands to reason this is now a hot topic.
Whoop, whoop! It’s Hump Day! Since it is Wednesday, it is time for a Q&A with Ask the Pro Stylist.
Welcome beautiful! The grey hair beauty trend is still popular. As such, many older women are embracing their silver, white, platinum and gray locks. In addition, as more and more organic home remedies appeal to most, it isn’t any wonder that women want alternatives to pricy products.
Today’s reader had this to say…
Is there any natural treatment to brighten grey hair? I was told to try vinegar, does that work?
Apple cider vinegar with a bit of lemon does brighten gray or blonde hair. Although, I have not tried it personally.
However, gray hair tends to be more wiry and dry and in general needs moisture. Apple cider vinegar is more acidic, living around 3 on the pH scale. Lemon juice sits at the low-end of the pH scale as well, around 2.
As such, the combination could be a bit drying. Healthy hair and skin live between 4.5-5.5. Therefore, if you do try it I would follow up with a good conditioner. In addition, I would not use it often.
Because I am a stylist, I am a huge proponent of professional brands. If it isn’t found in the salon, it really shouldn’t be used on hair. While I respect the organic movement, all the top brands do too. As a result, they are including only the best ingredients for optimal hair care.
Additionally, to brighten grey hair you might also look for a purple-based shampoo. BioSilk Color Therapy Cool Blonde Shampoo will brighten gray hair as well as Shimmer Lights, Paul Mitchell Platinum, etc. This will remove any dulling yellow from the hair without the use of colors or chemicals. In addition, it provides the much-needed moisture grey hair lacks.
