Hair Help! My hair is thin and I want long, beach waves.
Desirie from Long Island saw yesterday’s post, Effortless Hairstyle Tips for the Thanksgiving Cook, and submitted a question for hair help.
Desirie, who is also a client, saw the beach wave hairstyle and asked the pro for hair help. “I’m jealous and how do I get her hair?”
My client’s hair is thin, naturally wavy, stays just below shoulder length, is colored at the root (from a box-GASP) with highlights, and she gets a Keratin Treatment twice a year. While, Desirie can achieve the beach waves easily on her length, she is looking for a longer, full hairstyle. Here are a few tips to help Desirie achieve a fuller, longer, healthier looking head of hair.
- Trim the ends every four to six weeks to avoid breakage.
- Color the hair using a LICENSED PROFESSIONAL! Don’t EVER use a box!
- For fuller and/or longer hair use hair extensions. I recommend temporary clip-ins for Desirie’s hair help issues. Her hair really is pretty and adding the temporary extensions provides a touch of fun, without breaking the bank or the hair that can come from the glue and clasps of permanent ones. If the hair is fine and prone to breakage as Desi’s is, then the temporary extensions provide a positive alternative.
- Style according to yesterday’s tips, however, the hairpiece may need a little going over with a one-inch barreled iron to create sexy beach waves.
The Keratin Treatments help to keep Desirie’s hair shiny, strong and conditioned and she has upped the amount of haircuts she receives to keep her hairstyle looking healthy. Note: Just because you receive a smoothing treatment, doesn’t mean you have to go without wavy hair.
Stay tuned to this site later today for a detailed post about hair extensions. And email any hair help questions you may have to the contact form above and I will do my best to post answers every Wednesday to break up the monotony of the week.
Happy Styling!
