Organic Beauty Oil: Top 5 Oils for the Skin
Organic beauty oil is the current trend, but not just because your favorite celebrities swear by it. Organic beauty oil works. Discover my top 5 choices for radiant, youthful, hydrated skin, with one that controls acne.
Whoop, whoop, Happy Hump Day hotties, and welcome to Wednesday’s Q&A with Ask the Pro Stylist! A reader recently saw one of my pieces answering a DIY beauty question and private messaged me on my Facebook. Tammy wanted to know about organic beauty oil.
I came across your article about making beauty products at home. I have been hearing a lot about natural beauty oil and wondered what the best ones are?
There are many types of organic beauty oil, but I have narrowed the list down to 5, (Vitamin E, Coconut, Olive, Grape Seed and Argan) basically because these are the easiest to find. There are others such as Jojoba, Neem and Tamanu, which could be found online or in natural food marts. If possible, try to find raw, cold-pressed oil wherever possible.
- Vitamin E is the first that came to mind. My mother used it and I split the capsules to rub on my pregnant belly, all four times. I have one or two tiny stretch marks, and I was huge. It is widely available, and much more affordable than it has been in the past.
- Speaking of pregnant mothers, Kristen Bell rubs Coconut Oil on her stomach. Coconut oil deeply penetrates the skin, and smells delish.
- Olive Oil contains naturally occurring Vitamins A and E, and healthy fats that help to moisturize and plump the skin. It can take off makeup, be used in scrubs and make a mean sauce. (Yes, sauce not gravy!)
- Argan oil invaded the beauty space as a miracle cure for dry hair. Argan oil contains squalene, an ingredient that helps to increase collagen, naturally. This organic beauty oil fights free radicals, and hydrates as it balances oily skin. Be sure the label says Argan oil or Moroccan Argan Oil, not simply Moroccan Oil; it isn’t the same thing.
- Grape Seed Oil is ideal for sensitive skin that requires hydration. It acts as an astringent while adding moisture, yet prevents and treats breakouts.
