Spring Hairstyles: Spring Clean Your Hair for a Fresh Look
It is time to ponder spring hairstyles. The thermostat has finally started to rise, so jump into the season with a fresh look as you spring clean your hair.
Whoop, whoop, happy Hump Day hotties, and welcome to another weekly Q&A with Ask the Pro Stylist. As the season changes, so do people’s thoughts on how they want to look. This is the time of year I normally hear the question: What should I do with my hair? Or, I need a change, what do you think? I have compiled a few suggestions to spring clean your hair and a few spring hairstyles to try, which if not loved, will grow back my summer.
Tips to Spring Clean the Hair
Dry heat could leave hair brittle, and poor weather could limit salon visits. A simple shaping, trim and conditioning treatment might be all you need to spring-clean your locks.
The hair color trend for spring/summer is normally lighter and brighter. Get highlights or a balayage and add a gloss for intense shine. It might cost a little more, but it is so worth it.
Spring is a great time to change your hair care products and it could be all you need for a fresh approach. Overusing the same hair care will leave your hair limp and dull. Try one of the popular 2-in-1 cleansing conditioners. I have sampled, and love, both Matrix Biolage Cleansing Conditioner and Keracolor Clenditioner. Color is preserved and the hair is left soft, conditioned, shiny and with body.
Spring Hairstyles
Bangs. Rihanna sported heavy bangs at the iHeartRadio Awards. They were full, edgy and short. This is not a preferred look for older women, however a fringe or soft side bang works well on aging skin (see Julianne Hough’s bangs below.)
Bob. Bobs make great spring hairstyles, because they grow out by summer and could still be put up if kept on the longer side. Try a long, edgy bob this season.
Product: Mastering the use of specific hairstyling products could alter a look without a drastic cut. Use hair oil on day three of your blowout to create a sleek look like below, or use a texturizing spray to liven up straight hair as seen on Julianne Hough above.
