Whoop, whoop! Happy Hump Day hotties! Welcome to Ask the Pros Stylist where hair, nails and beauty questions are answered every Wednesday. This week is dedicated to back-to-school haircut ideas. Much of the country’s students and teachers have returned, as we here on Long Island are preparing for the first day festivities, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year!”

This week a lovely guest, pictured below visited me for her summer to fall transformation, but wasn’t sure how to cut it. I suggested a longer edgy bob. Her hair was heavily highlighted for the summer and became lighter as the season droned on. Victoria is an up-and-coming teacher and wanted to return to her original shade of brown with a shorter, different hairstyle. I gave her a medium-length layered bob, although you cannot see the shorter back, and we dyed it medium brown. I also gave her a brief tutorial on how to wave her new haircut using a flat iron to give it just the right amount of oomph. She did a great job on her own. Click on the photos to enlarge.

To celebrate the end of summer, I have chosen a few back-to-school-haircut ideas for the very daring with photos of Shailene Woodley and Jennifer Lawrence, to a more subdued side bang seen on Emma Stone. For almost two years now short and long edgy bobs have been the current hair trends as are waves, texture and fun colors.
