Beauty Advice to Help Cover a Cold Sore

Beauty Advice to Help Cover a Cold Sore

Wednesday is devoted to answering reader’s questions and this week I have a touch of beauty advice to offer, to help out Madeline, who sent in the following question regarding a cold sore on the lip.

For the past few week’s, I have answered hair help questions, but this week I have decided to respond to a reader comment from Madeline, posted on my fan page months ago, because it fits in perfectly with this week’s beauty advice.

I would like to know if you have any beauty tips on how to cover a cold sore. When I use lipstick it is very noticeable. Is there anything I can cover it with before the lipstick?

Years ago, my mother worked for a “No Name” makeup brand. It is one of those generic makeup companies that would imprint your company’s name on their products. I was fortunate to have sampled products and purchased tons for the span of years I provided hair and makeup services to brides and their parties.

One of my favorites was a compact of concealers, similar to the one in the photo. Green covers red, yellow or orange worked wonders on dark circles and the different shades of concealers highlighted, covered and contoured. It was the perfect little palette of cover up for almost every skin color.

The beauty advice I originally gave Madeline was as follows:

Green coverup. I used to have a compact color palette to hide flaws. Green counters the red. Then apply a little foundation, then lipstick. This is cheap and can be found at Ulta Beauty near your job: Physician’s Formula 2-1 concealer.
