Bridal Looks: Romantic Mermaid Curls Make a Perfect Wedding Hairstyle

The final segment of bridal looks feature romantic mermaid curls, which is the perfect wedding hairstyle for the bride on the hunt for a less formal style. This wedding hairstyle works well with off the shoulder gowns and daytime weddings that have a relaxed atmosphere (not that any bride is ever relaxed).

There is never a wrong time to search for curly wedding hairstyles. You want the perfect hair to complement the dress of your dreams. Ask the Pro Stylist has devoted five weeks to bridal looks. Last week’s featured wedding hairstyle also focused on curls with the trend of a deep side part, and this Tuesday’s tutorial creates mermaid curls as one of many romantic bridal looks.

The guide is courtesy of Lizzie Liros, wedding hairstyle specialist and White Sands Hair Care, a favorite of Ask the Pro Stylist. Each week Ask the Pro Stylist details how-to recreate a look at home, or I reiterate style guides from other hair professionals for those in the industry to use on clients, or for brides to take to their favorite stylist for the big day. This week features the final part of a five-part series of bridal looks with wedding hairstyles guaranteed to satiate the most finicky bride, romantic mermaid curls.

  • Spray White Sands Liquid Texture Firm Hold Thermal Styling Spray on dry hair then blow dry the hair until it is completely dry.
  • Part hair on the side.
  • Divide the front of the hair away from the back.
  • Using a conical wand, (Ask the Pro Stylist recommends Enzo Milano), hold the hair at a 90 degree angle, and wind it from roots to ends until the full head is complete.
  • Taking small sections of hair alternate between a tight curl (holding for 6-7 seconds) and looser curls (holding for 3-4 seconds), styling the full head of hair.
  • Hairstyle TIP: Always use a tighter curl on the hair at the crown.
  • Allow hair to cool for 10 minutes before continuing styling.
  • Tip head upside down and run your fingers through to loosen the curls. Then run a very wide toothcomb through curls to finish.
  • Give hair a good shake to loosen and spray with White Sands Infinity Hair Spray.
  • Turn head upright and using the fingers, tease the end of the hair in an upward motion to create the finished look.

And that completes the series of bridal looks. Come back next Tuesday to learn how to create waves using a flat iron. Until then, happy styling!
