Dog Salon or Hair Salon: Where Does Your Pet Belong?
The dog salon is the place for your pet, not the hair salon, unless of course your baby is a service dog. As you are clearly not Paris Hilton, if you carry your pup in a purse wherever you go, including a hair salon, then my darling you have been nailed by the Hair Police.
Happy Monday and Memorial Day gorgeous, and welcome to Ask the Pro Stylist’s Hair Police. Today is a day for thanking those that have given their lives in fighting for this great nation. Let us not forget the reason for the holiday as we go about our Memorial Day gatherings and/or shopping. Although the day is a washout here on Long Island, perhaps a little Hair Police humor, dog salon or hair salon knowledge, and puppy cuteness will brighten your day for at least 3 minutes.
I love my Bellla! She is the cutest light of my life, especially after a rough day. She is only 6 months, yet has filled a tremendous void after my Princess left us. Her energy and fluffiness adds to the joy of my house, and with all 6 of us that live here, she sure gets tons of love daily.
So clearly, I am a dog lover, having been raised with pets my entire life. Recently, a woman came in to the salon for a service with a pup in her purse. As the consultation ensued, she gave her pooch some water, which is when the canine was spotted. However, dogs are not allowed in the salon. The guest was not happy to hear this news and began a long and unnecessary argument, which did not include service dog.
We have had another client attempt to carry her baby in her bag while she got her hair done, and understood when informed the dog could not be there. The recent woman was not as patient as the last, so to accommodate her as she received a quick and simple conditioning treatment and blowout, we made arrangements for her dog to be attended to in the waiting area.
You my dear are not Paris Hilton, nor are you dropping hundreds for your service. Of course that doesn’t matter when following the local ordinances regarding dogs in public, but your attitude sure behaved as such.
So here is the 411 on bringing your pet to a hair salon. The dog salon is relegated for your pet, not the hair salon, unless of course it is a noble service dog, or the salon allows it. Ours does not. Your arrogance put those who might be allergic at risk. I’m sure your dog could have been left home for the hour it took for you to get your hair done.
I take my girl everywhere I am ALLOWED, but not the hair salon. When she is ready for another trim, we will head to the dog salon. Have a safe and commemorative Memorial Day. Happy Styling!
