Donating Hair is as Easy as Snip, Snip, Snip

Donating hair is as easy as snip, snip, snip and is a great way to put a smile on the face of someone suffering from an illness or disease. This week’s Hair Police doesn’t issue a violation, but rather serves up a positive citation for a job well done by one of my recent guests that donated her hair.

Happy Monday beautiful, and welcome to Ask the Pro Stylist’s Hair Police column of the week! I recently had a client that was questioning donating her hair or not. The length of her hair reached her buttocks, and she had more than enough to meet most charity requirements. She ended up donating her hair, cutting off 8 inches, which could be seen in the photo.

Instead of receiving a violation from this week’s Hair Police, I have given major kudos to Tara for donating hair. I have complied four of the most popular charities to donate hair, however there are many others.

The average length to donate hair is between 8 to 12 inches. Pantene requires 8 inches, as does CWHL Children With Hair Loss. Locks of Love has a minimum of 10 inches needed to donate hair and Wigs for Kids, 12 inches. Many salons that participate in hair donation programs won’t charge for the haircut, but be sure to ask first. Each organization has its own requirements, so it is advisable to research first before donating hair.

Visit Ask the Pro Stylist next Monday to see if you or your hair and beauty routine have landed a violation from the Hair Police. Until then, happy styling!
