False Eyelashes in Summer? Summer Beauty Tips for 40+
Are false eyelashes appropriate for summer outings? This is a loaded question, recently spurred by a woman wearing a ton of makeup for a local baseball event. Her full face of cosmetics prompted a rewrite of summer beauty tips for this Monday’s Hair Police column, with a focus on false eyelashes.
Happy Monday hotties, and welcome to Ask the Pro Stylist’s Hair Police that notices various beauty offenses from the weekend and brings them to the readers to advise for the future. While celebrating the Fourth of July at the Long Island Ducks’ game and fireworks spectacular, a beautiful blonde was spotted in full-face makeup and perfect hair. I think it is great to always be put together, but the eyelashes were too much for an outdoor, summer baseball event. She was gorgeous, and didn’t need the extra extra.
Summer makeup should be light. You should change your makeup as you do your wardrobe for the season, and the cosmetics should reflect the style. Dark, heavy liner with thick false eyelashes is overkill for a baseball game within an independent league in an outdoor park. The look works for the club or a formal affair.
What happens when women over 40 wear such heavy makeup in daylight? They inadvertently add years, when the intention probably was to look sexy and younger. But quite the opposite happens with dark, heavy false eyelashes. Stick to light foundation, a pop of color on the cheeks, lip balm and neutral tones around the eyes for makeup applications in the summer, unless you are on stage or camera during the day. If you suffer from sparse lashes, then consider extensions for a natural look, or simply add false eyelashes that are thinner, with an organic feel, or individual lashes for a touch of fullness.
