NSFW Rick Owens Paris Fashion Week
Oh the penis puns that arise, most of which have been worn to death on Twitter Thursday after attendees at the Rick Owens show during Paris Fashion Week got an eyeful. The 52-year-old American fashion designer showcased his Fall/Winter 2015/2016 collection during Parish Fashion Week as the models showcased their manhood via peepholes.
The following piece about Rick Owens at Paris Fashion Week was originally written for Examiner.com. However, the publishers felt the Huff Post link was questionable and “the team” unpublished it. Such Bullshit, especially as my slideshow contained no nudity. However, here is the full view of what onlookers witnessed yesterday, as I have a little more freedom with my own blog.
Most outlets, such as E! News, have focused on the penis party, with little commentary regarding the men’s fashion. The Huffington Post has suggested “five places” where it would be acceptable to wear the penis-peek-a-boo cloaks. And yes, the Huff Post piece is extremely NSFW or anywhere for that matter. The author recommends the Playboy mansion, at home, on a desert island, “in the Hundred-Acre Wood with the pant-less Winnie the Pooh,” (ok, that was weird) or of course, “nowhere,” which is a very good suggestion.
However, I might have another suggestion, as Rick Owen’s open-bottomed menswear has a futuristic element, think an X rated version of “Return of the Jedi.” Flashing man junk aside, the tunics/cloaks/ponchos were hideous.
Kudos, though, to the brave models that paraded their privates without a fluffer to perk up their limp love sticks. Seriously though, who would wear this and on what red carpet would it appear other than the AVN Awards?
According to New York Magazine the moment was fleeting, literally blink and many missed it. That must not have made the models happy. However, penises weren’t the focus of the Rick Owens fashion show. The full frontals were exposed after a variety of other menswear strutted down the catwalk, which has been reported as “not being in bad taste,” with an air of “mystery.” This was apparently a first for Paris Fashion Week.
