The 2013 American Music Awards aired Sunday night to the usual celebrity fan fare and Ask the Pro Stylist has a few of the hair hits and misses, with a spotlight on the soon to be superstar Ariana Grande.
What can we say about Ariana Grande? For starters, the 20-year-old, petite (Grande may describe her voice, but Ariana only stands at 5’0”) Nick star performed “Tatooed Heart” after One Direction at the 2013 AMAs. She then received a standing O from the audience, which included the likes of Lady Gaga (who rolled up on a man-operated white horse) aand then went on to win the Best New Artist of the Year (as of this posting).
Rumor has it her favorite decade is the 60’s and it was evident in her form fitted, sparkling red gown, doo-wop back up singers and retro hairstyle. We love her, my son adores her and I cannot wait to see what this young lady has in store for the future. Ok, so I wasn’t wowed by her hair, but at least she didn’t bleach her eyebrows like Miley. Ariana Grande is a class-act mega talent and absolutely adorable.
Taylor Swift is seen below accepting the Favorite Country Album award for “Red” during the 2013 American Music Awards at Nokia Theatre in L.A, and as is her fashion, looked stunning with her layered hairstyle and parted bangs.
Don’t get me wrong, Rihanna is beautiful, but her Doobie Wrap hairstyle reminded me of women with curly hair who straighten it, then coil around the head and pin, like Rihanna did at the 2013 AMAs, to set in place. The picture shows RiRi as she accepts the Favorite Soul/R&B Female Artist award with straight black Bobby pins. Thankfully, Rihanna’s comb over was later decorated with pearl studded clips for her performance of “Diamonds” right before she received the first-ever Iconic Award from her mother.
Christina Aguilera and her new svelte look is hotter than ever and her platinum blonde bob screams sexy siren. I just loved her curls on the 2013 American Music Awards’ red carpet and I am sure David Babaii, Xtina’s celebrity hairstylist, will divulge how he created her bounce to me tomorrow, so keep a lookout in one of my Examiner.com Hair Care columns for all of the details.
