Hair Hygiene: The Do’s & The Don’ts To Fragrant Hair
Hair hygiene is as important as brushing your teeth and washing your skin. Yet, so many forget daily maintenance. As a result, odors build within the hair, thus today’s Ask the Pro Stylist’s Hair Police.
Happy Monday beautiful! As such, it is time for another of Ask the Pro Stylist’s hair rant of the week. Today’s Hair Police focus is on hair hygiene.
Hair hygiene doesn’t need to take hours. For that matter, washing the hair everyday is frowned upon: Unless of course you are on a hair thinning prevention program that requires daily scalp cleansing to remove excess sebum.
By the way, sebum is oil. It is a noun, which is the oily secretion of the sebaceous glands found under the skin that lubricates the hair. For some, excessively oily hair could be a warning sign of hair loss. But the point here is if you say sebum oil, you are saying noun, noun, oil, oil and it is bad grammar. But, I digress.
My hair is oily, and I must be mindful the products I use in-between shampoos as they will make it look greasy. However, my hair doesn’t smell. I use fragrant dry shampoos, baby powder at times and perfume. My new favorite dry shampoo for my hair hygiene is Color Rose Hip Oil Color Nurture Dry Shampoo.
Cigarette smoke, cooking and frying will linger in the hair. If you care about your hair hygiene, be aware of this little fact. You might not notice it, but I guarantee someone else will. After all, you don’t want to smell like an animal in the wild!
An oily scalp will also create a dirty odor and prevent optimal hair growth. Use products that target a clean scalp, but won’t dry out the hair or damage expensive salon services. Ask your professional for their product recommendations or visit a hair loss expert.
