Hair and Makeup How-To: Get Blake Lively’s Golden Globes Look
Blake Lively’s hair and makeup, and overall style, were stunning at the 2017 Golden Globes. This, after giving birth only a few months ago! Get Blake Lively’s hair and makeup red carpet look in today’s Q&A.
Whoop, whoop, it’s Hump Day! As such, it is time for another Q&A with Ask the Pro Stylist. In celebration of the Golden Globes, I want to provide readers with a hair and makeup how-to from the red carpet.
While no one in particular has a question on how to recreate her stunning style, I feel it deserves mention. Hair and makeup are below:
Rod Ortega for L’ORÉAL PARIS took inspiration from her “Sleek Anita Ekberg” to create a “modern day twist” to complement Blake’s golden-trim Versace dress.” The first part of the hair and makeup how-to comes from Rod and is as follows.
- To start, wash hair with L’Oréal Paris Hair Expert Extraordinary Clay Shampoo and Conditioner.
- Next, blow dry while finger brushing throughout.
- Once completely dry, spritz L’Oréal Paris Hair Expert Extraordinary Clay Dry-Shampoo in dots starting around the face, moving to the back of the head. As a result, this will create texture.
- Layer hair with L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray and brush with a flat brush to distribute the product throughout.
- Separate the front half of hair, from temple to temple, and leave out. Pull the rest into a ponytail.
- Pull a small piece of hair out of the ponytail and wrap it around the band.
- Then pull the remaining hair back, blending it with the rest and secure with pins.
- Lift the ponytail up and back, brushing the hair with a flat comb.
- Smoothe the ponytail on top and spritz the fly-a-ways with L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray and let it dry.
- Twist the ponytail to one side and tuck the end under, securing with pins on both sides.
- To finish, spritz with L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray and L’Oréal Paris Hair Expert Nutri-Gloss High Shine Glossing Mist for a sleek finish.
Once again, using products from L’ORÉAL PARIS, makeup artist Kristofer Buckle went for a “deco vibe” to complement the dress. “We kept the look pretty neutral and coco-colored. Just like an art deco painting, there is structure, as well as soft glamour.”
The second half of Blake Lively’s hair and makeup how-to is as follows.
- Prep skin with L’Oreal Paris Hydra-Genius Moisturizer for Normal to Dry Skin all over.
- Apply L’Oreal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Makeup in C3 (or your skin tone).
- Next apply L’Oreal Paris Infallible Total Cover Foundation in Creamy Natural around the eyes as a concealer.
- For cheeks, Kris use L’Oreal Paris Infallible Paints Blush Kit, mixing the coral and pink shades. Apply on Blake’s from the top of the ear to the corner of the mouth. As a result, this will create structure.
- In addition, use L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Liquid Illuminator in Golden as a highlight to the high planes of the cheekbones and bridge of the nose. The illuminator helps to reflect light beautifully and add to the structural theme of the look.
- Apply L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche La Palette Nude Intense on the eyes, bouncing all over the palette, using all of the tones to create the dynamic eye look. Add deeper colors to the crease and outer corners for depth. Then, drag the color out to create a soft contoured eye
- For enduring lashes use L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Lash Primer then used L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara on top and bottom.
- Then to balance out the look, Kris used L’Oreal Paris Infallible Paints Lipcolor in Spicy Blush, applying all over Blake’s lip.
- To finish, apply L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Liquid Illuminator in Golden to the shoulders and collarbones. This creates continuity in complexion from face to body.
