Hairstyle Advice: To Bang or Not to Bang

Hairstyle Advice: To Bang or Not to Bang

In the eternal quest to look younger and younger, clients often request the following hairstyle advice: to bang or not to bang. The answer is yes, but not the big bangs of the 80’s-please stop puffing up your hair!!!

Bangs are a great change to a boring hairstyle. They cover wrinkles and extended foreheads, alter a look, add a youthful appearance or open up the face of those younger girls who like to hide behind their hair. Bottom line is bangs are beautiful for any age, as long as one adheres to the following hairstyle advice.

The high poofy bangs are out of date-have been since about 1992. If you wear bangs, do not layer the front extensively to create height-that will only make you look dated and older.

Heavy Taylor Swift bangs are great for the younger set. As women age, if they still want a full bang like the pop star, I suggest fringing or razoring the bangs to create a modern, uneven look, think Susan Sarandon and Lisa Rinna.

Side bangs work well on any age woman, as seen on the range of women in the pictures and add flavor to however the hairstyle is worn, whether up, down or half and half. Having a longer bang also allows for the hair to be styled without bangs and pushed to the side or pinned back.

I hope the above hairstyle advice has answered your question to bang or not to bang! I’ll always choose to bang!

Happy Styling!
