Halloween nail art tutorial: Black cat nails for Halloween
A Halloween nail art tutorial is the focus of this Tuesday’s Ask the Pro Stylist’s how-to segment, as the spooky holiday is right around the corner. If nail fashion is your niche, then the following Halloween nail art tutorial of a black cat is for you, brought to you by my friend Shannon of SeriouslyNails.com.
Welcome darlings to Ask the Pro Stylist’s Tuesday how-to guide. Each week I detail a beauty, hair or nails guide for pros, aficionados, students and do-it-yourselfers given to me by industry insiders or from my own experience as a hairstylist.
I recently got to meet a beauty colleague at Battle of the Strands in Las Vegas who detailed the step-by-step Halloween nail art tutorial for my Hair and Nails Examiner.com piece. I decided to list it here for my readers that might have missed it.
The coordinating photos to the Halloween nail art tutorial are in the gallery. The base neon orange nail polish used in the pictorial, Traffic Cone by Salon Perfect, is affordable and available at Wal-Mart.
Halloween Nail Art Tutorial by Seriously Nails: Black Cat
- First polish the nails with a lively bright orange of your choice.
- Sponge on yellow acrylic paint (available in craft stores), and alternate the yellow between the top and the bottom of the nail to give it an uneven appearance.
- Apply a matte topcoat to all of the nails.
- For the accent nail, first draw the cat with a black striping polish, and paint an oval black spot for the cat’s body.
- Add a smaller black spot for his head, and next place two black triangles on top of the head at opposite sides for his ears.
- Using the black striping paintbrush, make a large sweeping line connected to the bottom of his body for his tail.
- Add black dots of varying sizes to the top of the cat nail to create dark stars.
- Make additional swirls on the remaining nails to create a dizzying effect.
