Healthy Lifestyle Choices: Soylent Friday Favorite
Healthy lifestyle choices begin with good nutrition. This Friday’s favorite not only provides all of your daily nutrients, but it’s also good for the skin and hair.
TGIF beauties, and welcome to Ask the Pro Stylist’s favorite beauty product of the week for healthy lifestyle choices. I recently had the pleasure of sampling Soylent, and when mixed with a flavoring or fruits and veggies, is a delicious, healthy meal on the go. If good nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices are some of your New Year’s resolutions, I highly suggest sampling Soylent. For more information, read my latest review on the drink in a recent Examiner.com article.
New Year resolutions often revolve around losing weight, exercise, and/or opting for a healthy lifestyle. In an effort to see a dramatic drop in size, many forgo nutrition and enter into fad diets that while they might work, will also cause the dieter to lose nutrients, which is unhealthy and cause the hair and skin to suffer. Instead, choose healthy meals, drink plenty of water and try adding a nutritional beverage to your day that is not just good for your body, but for your skin and hair as well.
Silent is the simplest meal on the go. It is a nutritionally complete staple food designed that provides all of the elements of a healthy diet in one meal (20 percent of daily nutrition) and is only 400 calories.
The new Soylent 2.0 is delicious and nutritious, available in a convenient bottle. Your daily intake of healthy carbohydrates, fats, fiber, potassium, iron and calcium are easily provided, sans the added sugars, saturated fat and cholesterol. Not only does Soylent help to maintain a healthy lifestyle, but also contains ingredients for optimal skin and hair care.
Algal Oil is a vegetarian source of Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. The nutrient acts as an anti-inflammatory (puffy eyes), supports a healthy pregnancy and brain development, boosts eye health, reduces blood pressure, and improves memory. Omega-3s nourish the hair for healthy follicles and creates shine. Fatty acids improve hydration and foster glowing skin. Soy protein improves cholesterol and aids in healthier digestion, which is a major factor for having blemish-free, clear skin. And because Soylent only contains naturally occurring sugars and is free of artificial and added sugar, there isn’t the damaging “white food effect” that ages the skin.
White food offenders age us from the inside out. White carbs, simple sugars, white rice, white pasta, white bread, white sugar and white flour are problematic for the skin on a cellular level. As we metabolize these carbohydrates they are broken down into sugars known as glycation (process of sugar attaching to the collagen of the skin tissue), which can directly result in wrinkles and aging skin. Many dermatologists believe that 50 percent or half of our aging process is due to glycation.
Soylent is affordable and with a little creativity you could enjoy delicious and nutritious smoothies. Mix peanut butter, espresso, fruit, chocolate, matcha and natural herbs for meals the whole family will love, adding to a healthy lifestyle and great skin and hair. Soylent 2.0 is vegan, lactose-free, nut-free, has a shelf life up to one year and is made in the United States.
Visit me next Friday for another of my favorite beauty or healthy lifestyle choices similar to this week’s Soylent nutritional beverage. Until then, happy styling!
