Holiday Hairstyles Tutorial: Try on the Trendy Faux Bob this Holiday Season

It is the most wonderful time of the year, which offers a chance to try on a plethora of holiday hairstyles. The trendy faux bob tutorial to follow is a nontraditional, yet classy look, perfect for the holidays, which also answers a client’s question that was on the fence about cutting her hair into a short bob.

Happy Hump Day! Whoot Whoot!

(A day late! Sorry, I was enjoying a wonderful class trip with my son yesterday—we saw “Newsies”!)

Welcome to another edition of Ask the Pro Stylist, where I attempt to answer readers’, followers’ and clients’ hair, beauty, nails and makeup questions. Can you believe it is ONLY 20 days until Christmas? As soon as the calendar turns to December 1, my heart starts to race and panic, yet I refuse to do anything earlier, so my bad.

This week I am reiterating a conversation I had with a client who wants a change and was thinking of cutting her hair into the very popular bob. Knowing her as well as I do, I suggested she wear a faux bob, one of my favorite holiday hairstyles, to see if she liked the length. I will be preparing her hair for an upcoming wedding, however, at the same time, the following tutorial was recently sent to me by friends from L’Oréal Professionnel that I’d like to share with my readers and DIY hair aficionados who are savvy enough to experiment with holiday hairstyles.

“The faux bob is a cool way to give the trendy bob a try without chopping off your locks, and can be styled straight or wavy, depending on your preferred look,” says L’Oréal Professionnel Artist, Drew Schaefering. “Leave the front pieces straight, sleek and modern, or change it up by curling them for a retro twist, setting with clips and letting cool.”

Every woman can recreate this must-have look with the easy, how-to holiday hairstyles tutorial video found exclusively at LPMustHaves.com. Schaefering provides some unique stylists tips to make the steps even easier.

  • Apply L’Oréal Professionnel Volumetry Root Spray to damp hair and blow completely dry.
  • Create a low ponytail and secure two inches from ends, pull ends of hair halfway through on the last twist.
  • Roll ponytail up to nape, securing horizontally with pins.
  • Scoop a dime-sized amount of L’Oréal Professionnel Architexture, a matte
defining paste, and spread onto fingers, and then gently pull strands apart.
  • Finish with L’Oréal Professionnel Infinium 4 to hold style in place.

Keep a lookout throughout December for more fun and easy holiday hairstyles.
