Is Beauty School for You?
Hello gorgeous! Is Beauty School for you? If you are thinking about it then, Ask the Pro Stylist has a super opportunity for you to discover if cosmetology school is the correct path. Finding the right beauty school takes more than a quick online search. The bigger the corporation, the better its marketing team. This means one beauty school will always pop up whether you search for hair, nails, or skin. My first book, The Future Professional’s Guide to Cosmetology: Is Beauty School for You?, is live on Amazon. It is available in both digital and print formats. The guide is a quick read and below is a synopsis to help you on your career journey.
Introduction
My time in the beauty industry as a licensed cosmetologist spans over 30 years. As such, I know a few things. Having been both director and educator for some popular cosmetology schools in the New York region, I believe I have a bit of insight to answer, “Is Beauty School for you?” The guide provides details about my expansive career and love of the industry. Hopefully, it will inspire you to enroll in a cosmetology school or act as a yellow light to proceed with caution.
What You Will Learn in Cosmetology School
The Future Professional’s Guide to Cosmetology: Is Beauty School for You? is not a replacement for a textbook. Nor will it prepare you to be a licensed cosmetologist. However, it touches on all aspects outside of your bookwork and practical work required to be successful, such as professionalism. Additionally, the guide outlines a typical school day.
Types of Schools
I touch on the pros and cons of private cosmetology schools, higher education that offers cosmetology and BOCES, Vocational, or CTE schools. This will give you an idea of the benefits of all, when to attend, and how the teachers are trained. There is a resource section at the end with links for the types of cosmetology schools each state offers.
School Policies
It is important to understand all higher learning facilities have school policies. From dress codes to attendance, every student signs off on school policies and a code of conduct during the enrollment process. The Future Professional’s Guide to Cosmetology: Is Beauty School for You explains the policies, and how they play a role in learning if cosmetology is the right career path.
Beauty Careers
You will find a list of over 30 careers available to explore in the beauty industry. Cosmetology can be a lucrative and professionally rewarding vocation if you put in the hard work.
Resources
The last chapter includes links to cosmetology resources in all 50 states. It is sorted alphabetically with websites to schools, licensing, and information about teaching cosmetology. Please be aware that links constantly change, and not all the state websites have a list of schools. In those instances, other resources are provided.
