Julianne Hough Channels Inner Unicorn, Dyes Hair Pink
Julianne Hough has channeled her inner unicorn and dyed her hair pink. A client texted me the DWTS judge’s Instagram photo last night, asking if she colored her hair this shade, if it would be gone by prom, and her timing couldn’t be perfect.
Whoop, whoop, it’s Hump Day! Welcome Hotties to Ask the Pro Stylist’s weekly Q&A. A client texted me last night after seeing a photo of Julianne Hough with pink hair. She wants the same pastel shade, however her mother wants it gone for prom.
The timing was great because the question reminded me of a recent story I had seen at BehindTheChair.com’s Facebook page. A mother wanted a refund after her daughter’s streaks of “vibrant hair color” faded in 2 weeks. The consensus was no refund; “unnatural” hair colors naturally fade, especially with frequent washing and swimming in chlorinated pools. As a matter of fact all hair color fades rapidly under such conditions, which is why we (stylists) recommend a proper after care regimen and only coloring the hair at a salon. Pastels and vibrant shades fade even faster.
Rumor has it Julianne Hough dyed her hair pink for Coachella, one day after appearing on Dancing with the Stars in her well-known platinum. Hough captioned her Instagram with:
Pink hair, don’t care! Check out my new fun hair and get @riawnacapri’s fabulous tips on becoming a unicorn. juliannehough.com (link in profile)
Although Julianne Hough might want to transform her hair color to become a unicorn, I am not fully sure she understands the full spectrum that the term implies. Having interviewed an alternative lifestyle unicorn, one who enjoys being the third in a sexual relationship, perhaps using the moniker My Little Pony might have been a better fit to describe Julianne Hough’s pink hair. Unless of course the dancer enjoys a threesome, then have at it.
All joking aside, I love the fact that Julianne Hough and her colorist Riawna Capri gave hair color tips to maintain pastels on the dancer’s website. She offers three suggestions for a bold, fun hair color change. To sum up, how committed are you to the process, make sure a pro colors your locks and proper color selection. All great advice that I suggest readers adhere to, so make sure you click on her page to check it out.
But for today, to answer my client’s question, yes, the pink will fade by prom, however, the blonde that I will have to bleach you to prior for a beautiful cotton candy shade like Julianne Hough is permanent, so I do not suggest this hair color before prom unless you are ready to view your forever prom photos in a whole new light.
