MakeUp Eraser Beauty Review: Not a Fave for Friday

Ask the Pro’s MakeUp Eraser beauty review is not a good one. I rue the day when anything negative comes out of someone’s hard work, but sadly, I did not love The Original Makeup Eraser spotted at this year’s IBS New York, and therefore it most certainly isn’t this Friday’s favorite beauty product of the week.

TGIF beauties, and welcome to Ask the Pro Stylist’s Friday Favorite column. I had the intense pleasure of attending IECSC and IBS New York this past Monday, and while I saw some complaining about it on social media, I loved it. Before I begin my beauty review on The Original MakeUp Eraser, let me show and tell you why I had such a wonderful day.

I am fortunate enough to have a different vantage point than the general visitor to the show. I have press access, behind the scenes knowledge and as a stylist, a different perspective than other media.

While some people saw only nail accessories and an abundance of hair extensions, I had exclusive insight into the latest technology, innovations and beauty trends for the year to come. And all of my favorites will be expressed in one way or another, either here or through my Examiner.com articles.

I mean really, what wasn’t to love. IBS NY had half-naked men, naked women, hair artistry, the latest in hair care and anti-aging and more nudity!

However, I didn’t love the MakeUp Eraser. It is direct sales merchandise , created from a woman who noticed that a bathrobe of the same material removed her makeup effectively. The beauty product is inexpensive and saves money by not having to purchase makeup removal items.

While chatting with the lovely sales rep that gave me a sample MakeUp Eraser, she disclosed after removing makeup with the pink cloth and a little water, additional washing isn’t necessary, and you could moisturize as usual. Even more disturbing was the fact that the cloth only gets washed as needed, very unsanitary.

The process is simple. Wash the cloth prior to the first erase, drench a portion of the short nap side with warm water and gently rub off the makeup, then flip to the longer side to exfoliate. So, I tried the MakeUp Eraser, and it didn’t remove my mascara. That needed extra help. After I followed the instructions to take off all of my cosmetics, my skin still felt as if I had on makeup. I pulled out my new favorite skin cleanser from Michael Todd, washed my face and the head of the Soniclear was full of makeup residue.

I hate giving a bad review of a product I was fortunate enough to sample. But truth be told, if I constantly raved about beauty, who the hell would believe me anyway. I definitely do not recommend the MakeUp Eraser, especially if you care about your skincare, nor would I invest my time as a direct sales representative. Happy Friday, until next week, Happy Styling!
