Oily Hair Troubles Might Be A Signal Of Thinning Hair
Oily hair effects many individuals. The cause could be a variety of factors. However, oily hair might also be a sign of thinning hair. Find out what to do in this week’s Q&A with Ask the Pro Stylist.
Whoop, whoop it’s Hump Day! Hello gorgeous! Since it is Wednesday, it’s time for another Q&A with Ask the Pro Stylist. Today a reader, Rod, has oily hair troubles.
I cut my hair real short because it is very oily and would like to know who makes a good shampoo that will get rid of the oil in my hair. I shampoo my hair everyday as the oil just keeps getting worse if I don’t. In fact, I am allergic to the oil in my hair, which makes it uncomfortable. Thank you for your help in this oily situation.
As it appears Rod needs an immediate response, I sent this reply:
Hi Rod, excessively oily hair could be a warning sign to thinning hair. I suggest Nioxin or Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Scalp Care for thinning hair.
As would be expected, the reader doesn’t think his hair is thinning. However, he was grateful for the advice to keep the oil from getting worse.
Excessively oily hair is a reaction to an over secretion of sebum. The causes could be many, such as hormonal imbalance, unhealthy diet, sickness, pregnancy etc. In many cases, an unhealthy scalp and oily hair is a signal the hair is on its way to thinning. You might not notice any hair loss as of yet, but as it is a cautionary sign, it is a good time to begin preventative care.
If an oily scalp is left untreated, the follicles will clog, inhibiting the natural growth cycle. In addition, results such as dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, or scalp psoriasis is possible.
To conclude, use the proper hair care system to treat oily hair such as the products listed above. This includes shampoo, conditioner and a scalp tonic. A hair and skin supplement would also be beneficial. In this instance shampooing every day is fine with the right system.
