Olaplex Questions: Did I Do It Wrong?

Another reader has Olaplex questions, wanting to know if there was an error in her application. Find out what might cause a less than par result in today’s Q&A with Ask the Pro Stylist.

Whoop, whoop, it’s Hump Day! As today is Wednesday, it is time for another Q&A with Ask the Pro Stylist. This week a reader, Lyn, has Olaplex questions. Actually, she wrote in over the holidays with concerns her application was incorrect.

Season Greetings!  As a retired hair dresser, I was happy to try Oraplex. My first treatment was a stand alone with great results. Then, a month later I added it to my hair color. The results were awful. The color was not the same and my hair seems limp. Have you worked with Oraplex? What do you think I did wrong?

After a few back and forth emails we discovered Lyn followed the directions properly. In addition, I turned to the help desk at Olaplex. There is a possibility she has extensive buildup. Therefore, Malibu C Crystal Gel Normalizer was recommended to clear the limpness.

The reader was using Ion from Sally Beauty. While Olaplex’s design is to work with all hair color, I did recommend she return to a professional brand. As a licensed hairstylist, Lyn has access to CosmoProf. Depending upon her needs, I suggest Paul Mitchell the Color XG and Kenra. Additionally, Wella Koleston is ideal for really great gray coverage.
