Outrageous Celebrity Hairstyles from the American Music Awards

Hey there celebrity hairstyle watchers! Are you tuning in to the 40th anniversary of the American Music Awards? I can’t believe 40 years of music icons have graced the AMA stage, many with the most outrageous hairstyles that we love to hate.

Nothing is shocking anymore, but I have picked out a few of my favorite hairstyles to walk the red carpet, based mostly upon originality. Take a peek and chime in with your thoughts. And what is with Ginnifer Goodwin’s bottom lashes? She looked slightly like a cartoon character. Hmmm, anyone remember Betty Boop? It is a style trend that will take a little getting used to.

Nicki Minaj: Ok, I just love, love, LOVE her crazy colorful wigs, but tonight she opted for big, blonde and curliful instead to walk the red carpet then changed into cotton candy pink curls for her first performance, then black for her second.

Amy Heidermann of Karmin: Amy always sports an outrageous retro 40’s hairstyle with an updated twist, however on tonight’s American Music Awards she wrapped a braid around the top, slightly altering her usual look, but always looking hot.

Ke$ha: What made Ke$ha’s hairstyle outrageous? Absolutely nothing. When the public expects a star that relishes the bizarre to outdo her past looks and surprises fans with a glamorous Hollywood throwback, that is just outrageous.

Jenny McCarthy: The pinup mama went 80’s big with a retro French Twist, but lets be real, with that body and face, is anyone really looking at her hair?

Cyndi Lauper: Only this woman can get away with a choppy pink bob. No matter how old we get, “Girls really do want to have fun”.

Pink: The new mother and CoverGirl hasn’t strayed too far from her usual buzz with style, but tonight, she gets umpteen kudos for doing an amazing lyrical dance on stage as she sang “Try”. Just WOW!

Either the public has become desensitized to the style and hairdos of the music world, or more accepting of diversity, making for some cookie cutter styles seen at the 40th anniversary of the American Music Awards. But a big cheers to Ke$ha, Amy, Jenny, Nicki, Pikn and the beloved Cyndi for keeping it real!
