Create a patriotic pedicure; fireworks nail art perfect for Independence Day with this Tuesday’s how-to guide. Inspired by my patriotic hair and nails article for Examiner.com, Ask the Pro Stylist didn’t fail at an attempt at cute toenails for the Fourth of July.
I almost let a Tuesday go by without posting a how-to for the day. I was going to write about the prom hair I did for a dear client, but it is not something that is easily replicated unless done by a professional. When prom season is over, I will post pics of my favorite girls and the hair I created for them. But, for today, I have a patriotic pedicure how-to, inspired by an article I wrote yesterday.
After a busy day of work, and many end of school celebrations, it was time for a pedicure. As next week is the Fourth of July, and I will be unavailable to tend to my toes because we are off to dance competitions, I had my patriotic pedicure completed today.
I went to a local nail salon, Donna Nails in Lynbrook, Long Island where a basic $10 pedicure rocks. I sprung for a spa pedicure because I needed the extra massage today, and the poor workers were scurrying to close as I arrived slightly late. However, they didn’t rush me and provided me with outstanding service. I had one basic color applied, ESSIE Midnight Cami – a shimmering deep twilight blue, for the base to my patriotic pedicure.
Using Kiss Galaxy Effects Nail Art Kit and the red and white nail polish, I applied dots to the big toe with the dotting tool. When it dried, I went over it with the glitter topcoat, which also comes in the kit for a popping patriotic pedicure, simple to complete for Independence Day. When I was sure the glitter and dots were dry, I applied a clear topcoat to secure.
Have a safe and fun-filled Fourth of July with your patriotic pedicure. Happy Styling!
