Prom Hairstyles for Long and Short Hair

Prom Hairstyles for Long and Short Hair

Prom hairstyles for long and short hair were the highlights of the last few weeks. Although prom season is over, I wanted to feature a few prom hairstyles from some of my favorite girls that have now graduated.

Ariana recently cut her damaged hair into an edgy bob. She had a few prom hairstyles in mind, but after we put in the curls, decided to leave it as is because it wouldn’t deter from the detail of her gown, which was the back.

Her curly hair was blown dried straight and then curled with a one-inch barrel iron and Kenra Thermal Styling Spray (used on all three) to secure the curls before wrapping. I loosened the curls slightly with my fingers and secured with finishing spray from Italy HAIRFASHION. This is one of the most glamorous and trendy of the formal hairstyles and complemented Ari’s very sexy gown.

Tara was next and messaged me a variety of updos within the same variation of what we finally achieved. Although my rule is always, strapless gown, hair down, Tara’s very long hair would have not held a curl unless we cut a substantial amount of layers, and as she plans on donating it soon, we decided against that.

Tara chose a low side bun with curls and a rhinestone headband to keep back her long hair. To secure, we had to braid and pin using four separate sections for a very elegant and sophisticated prom hairstyle. Her curls were formed with the same iron above, however each one was pinned into the bun.

Brianna too wore a strapless gown and wanted curls pinned back with four decorative rhinestones placed in the back. Using the Enzo Milano Conica Grande, Brianna’s hair was curled in one-inch sections and pinned to set because her hair is fine in texture. Her hair was wrapped and after her makeup was done (at the MAC counter in Macy’s in Valley Stream, which is not recommended), I used my fingers to relax her curls slightly, backcombed the bang area and pinned back the top, then two sections on each side and applied the rhinestones.

As always, Brianna looked beautiful, as did Ariana and Tara with their very different prom hairstyles. Happy Styling!
