Recommended Curly Hair Care Products for Humidity

Although the cool weather still prevails here on Long Island, warmer days are on the way, (hopefully),  and so is the humidity. Read on for recommended curly hair care products that resist humidity.

Whoop, whoop! Happy Hump Day (I think?)! My current week and following are in holiday turmoil; half of my children (in public school) started break Monday, and the other half enrolled in Catholic School began their recess today. Yay me! Welcome to this Wednesday’s Q&A with Ask the Pro Stylist. Today I offer recommended curly hair care products for humidity.

Last spring when the weather behaved better, I negatively reviewed Alterna Caviar CC Cream for one of my Examiner.com titles. I had received a sample, and hated it, plain and simple. It is too expensive with bad results and made my hair feel disgusting. Yes, I call it like it is. A reader read the byline and asked what curly hair care products I recommended.

Hi, Deirdre. I saw your negative review online. I had extremely frizzy, fairly fine color treated hair. A couple of years ago I had a Brazilian Blowout, which was supposed to last 30 days and lasted for almost two years – in case it matters. I agree that the CC cream is expensive, but I’ve found nothing else that with some water rejuvenates the natural curl and helps it resist humidity, living in Louisiana, it’s a problem. Can you suggest another product? I’ve used silicone serums, Redken butter down cream and 1,000 others, but I’m curious what you’d suggest like that product.

Thanks, Martie

Thanks for your question Martie. Yes, I wasn’t fond of Alterna Caviar CC Cream. As a professional stylist on Long Island, I felt it wasn’t up to the standards of others. I suggest the following recommended curly hair care products.

But by all means, if you like Alterna and it works for you don’t stop using it. I thought it left my hair flat and weighted, and is not one of my recommended curly hair care products.
