Red Carpet Hair: Best & Worst of the 2017 Golden Globes

The red carpet hair at the 2017 Golden Globes was up, down, and in some cases, all over the place. As the Golden Globes tend to be a bit relaxed than other award ceremonies, the red carpet hair was a reflection of the night. What did the Hair Police think? Check out the best and worst of the 2017 Golden Globe Awards.

Welcome to a special edition of Ask the Pro Stylist in celebration of the 2017 Golden Globes and red carpet hair. For the occasion, the Hair Police has a few of the best and worst choices from Hollywood’s biggest party. Feel free to chime in with your thoughts on my opinion of the following celebrity hairstyles.

If the red carpet hair wasn’t down (straight or loose waves), it was in a soft, low up-do with a few strands astray, or a braid. While I always choose soft or beach waves to the side as a favorite, I am staying away this year. Since avid readers are fully aware that I adore those celebrity hairstyles, they could be sure on which I would choose.

To be a bit different for the 2017 Golden Globes, I like Nicole Kidman and her loose braid with waves, separating a half-up-half-down style. It is stunning and by far my top choice for best red carpet hair this year.

As for the trending up-do, my selection went to Emma Stone. It was loose and fun, with a Victorian feel.

While I love Sarah Jessica Parker, and am thrilled at her return to HBO, her risks could sometimes be too much. The Vera Wang gown was stunning (even if it is a wedding gown). However, the fishtail braid wrap in a crown effect was a hot mess. Yes, it could be homage to Princess Leia. Yet, when asked, she declared it was more of a dedication to her mother’s wedding photo. That hairstyle should have stayed in the picture. Sorry!

Golden Globe winner Hugh Laurie needs to pay a visit to Hair Club. They offer preventative hair loss measures as well as natural-looking hair replacement. I do believe John Travolta is also a member.

Hugh Laurie Red Carpet Hair

Thinning hair on men is a sore spot of topic. But, one never wants to have a bad comb-over similar to our PEOTUS (yuck). Hugh Laurie’s length doesn’t cover the areas of concern…it only accentuates it, especially when he looks down. A better style would be to either embrace the thinness and opt for a shorter look, or make an attempt to fix it. I suggest to shorten it…it is a sexy alternative.

Today’s post is an additional treat. Don’t forget to check out the rest of the columns this week, including a red carpet hair and makeup how-to this Tuesday. Until then, happy styling!
