Root Cover Up Beauty Review: Is It Friday’s Favorite?

Root Cover Up by L’Oréal Paris is the beauty product of the week. Or is it? This temporary gray concealer is convenient and quick, but is it up to Ask the Pro Stylist’s standards?

TGIF beautiful, and welcome to Ask the Pro Stylist’s beauty review of the week. This Friday I take a close look at Root Cover Up from L’Oréal Paris. No, it isn’t my favorite temporary fix to cover gray hair, but it’ll do in a pinch.

Root Cover Up is available in 6 shades in a 2-ounce aerosol can. That is the first strike since there are many more viable eco-friendly gray coverage products.

Additionally, the beauty product takes only 3 seconds to conceal gray hair. Other similar hair care products do as well.

The price is affordable, but so is most temporary gray coverage. Product packaging states Root Cover Up is weightless. Yet, my hair felt dirty and sticky, not at all what the manufacturer promises.

While I received Root Cover Up to sample, I cannot recommend it for those in-between salon visits. With so many better options to choose from, the consumer has a vast array of choices.

I will use the gray concealer as needed. It isn’t an awful solution, just not my pick for beauty product of the week. Because this is Friday’s Favorite column, it is hard to post a negative review. But I must be honest.

If you have a beauty product similar to L’Oréal Paris Root Cover Up that you’d like reviewed, please email at DeirdreAHaggerty@gmail.com. I don’t guarantee a positive one, but it will always be sincere. Until then, happy styling!
