SNL40: Kristen Wiig’s Sexy Short Bob Had One Flaw
SNL40 aired Sunday night and for fans of NBC’s sketch comedy show, it was a thrill to watch favorite clips and characters during the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special. However, as this is Monday and time for the Hair Police edition of Ask the Pro Stylist, one slight faux pas, a hairstyle mistake, needs to be addressed, and unfortunately it falls upon my favorite Not Ready For Prime Time Player, Kristen Wiig.
For those that might have just stumbled upon my beauty/hair care blog, every Monday is devoted to hair flaws that peeve me. It’s my curse that I hope beautifies the world. And as this falls after the weekend, it generally reflects the hair I see in church that makes me itch and want to leap over pews with a comb.
Kristen Wiig walked the red carpet just prior to SNL40 with a new haircut, a shorter bob, which was very sexy on the comedienne. Wiig even stayed within the current hair trend of tousled texture, and the 41-year-old actress looked stunning. And then she turned around.
As SNL40 cameras caught the back of Wiig’s head, this viewer wanted to reach into the TV and fix the piece of protruding hair in the back of her head. Texture is great, in style and on trend, but this bump had a life of it’s own. It looked as if she had just woken up and didn’t at the very least run her fingers through her hair before the SNL40 special.
Unfortunately for me, still photos from SNL40 didn’t capture the slight flaw, so you’ll just have to take my word for it. The key to textured hair is to not get out of control, but to keep the hair as natural looking as possible. I was sent a hair guide recap of Alexander Wang for NYFW, which I declined because it was a hideous mess of textured wetness, so not sexy. Texture is great, when done right.
Tune in next week to see who from the Oscars will offend Ask the Pro Stylist and land on the Hair Police list as my fave Kristen Wiig for SNL40 did. Until then, happy styling!
