Summer Makeup How-to: Look like a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model

This summer makeup how-to won’t give you the body of a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, but it does provides tips on how to have goddess-like summer makeup. Get Gigi Hadid’s cover girl look from the professionals with tips on how you could glow all summer long.

This week’s Ask the Pro Stylist’s Tuesday’s how-to focuses on summer makeup. Celebrity make-up artist, Misha Shahzada for BeautyFriend created Gigi Hadid’s summer makeup for The Daily Summer Magazine photographed by the famed Gilles Bensimon. To create the 19-year-old Los Angeles native’s “Golden Goddess” look, Misha “took inspiration from inspired icons such as Raquel Welch and Sofia Loren, as they’re the perfect role models for bronze beauty.”

Although Gigi Hadid is one of the twelve Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2014 Rookies, Misha didn’t want the up-and-coming supermodel to appear overly tanned. Shahzada’s goal was to give the cover girl a sun-kissed look. The following is a breakdown of the summer makeup used on Gigi for her photo shoot. The goal is to appear tan without looking orange or damaging the skin from harmful UV rays.

Summer makeup steps:

Exfoliate the skin for an overall, even application and perfect finish.
Apply Perfekt Body Perfection Gel in matte tan, which Misha recommends because, “the product blends nicely and is easily buildable without looking too heavy or unnatural.”
With a bronzing brush dust Maybelline’s Mineral Power Bronzerall over the entire face. Misha suggest to “always start with less and build if you need to. The celebrity makeup artist also advises that, “when using nudes for color, to experiment with shades such as taupe, browns, pinks, etc., as nudes do not always have to consist of just beige tones.” You want to match your complexion and skin tone.
To finish Gigi’s “Golden Goddess” summer makeup natural look, Misha opted for just a pop of color on the lips with Maybelline’s SuperStay 24 Keep up the Flame lined with Color Sensational Lip Liner in red that added a modern twist without appearing overly “glam.”
