Summer makeup tips are today’s featured piece, offered as an answer to a reader’s question about bronzers. Although it’s tan season, there are still a few beauty rules to adhere to in the warm weather, especially for seasoned women.
Whoop, whoop, happy Hump Day hotties! Ok, so I am late-I apologize. It’s Thursday and I’m in dance competition mode. Welcome to Ask the Pro Stylist where I answer readers’ and guests’ beauty, hair and nails questions. This Wednesday/Thursday I answer a reader’s query about bronzer. Lynn from Hoboken wants to know if she should use a bronzer in the summer, and which one? I offered Lynn a few summer makeup tips that take years off the face.
I live in Hoboken, New Jersey and summer at the shore. Should I still use a bronzer in the summer, and what do you recommend for aging skin?
Thanks for writing in Lynn. Yes, you should use a bronzer in the summer, actually a good bronzer should be used all year round, but it must always coordinate with the rest of the color of your body. I love Nuance Salma Hayek Flawless Mineral Cheek Trio, blush, bronzer and highlighter. But, please refer to my summer makeup tips, especially if your skin has earned a some lines and gasp, wrinkles, wink, wink.
Summer Makeup Tips for Seasoned Sexies
- Always wear sunblock. And if your moisturizer has an SPF of 15 or higher, hooray, because that is even better for your skin as it is always protected from the sun’s damaging rays.
- Use a tinted moisturizer, but be sure to match your skin tone, which is different from season to season, even with the best sun protection. As we age we lose pigmentation and a tinted moisturizer keeps color in the face.
- A bronzer does the same, but it should match the rest of your body, you don’t want a white face on a tanned body or vice versa.
- Don’t over indulge in concealer; it will make you look like a raccoon. I’ve written about this before, so follow this article for all year and summer makeup tips.
