The Perfect Prom Hairstyle for Short Hair

The perfect prom Hairstyle for short hair comes from a client who will be attending her prom very soon and the featured dilemma for this week’s beauty advice column. A high school senior came in for a haircut today and rather than writing in, asked some advice on how she should wear her hair for prom.

Chris had a very short pixie and has grown the haircut to chin length. While her hair has lengthened considerably from where it was at a year ago, it would still be considered short hair, however her layers have grown to a medium length, which gives her a little more play with prom hairstyle selections.

The teenager has a body that won’t quit. It is actually unfair, I mean really, her curves are ridiculous and the dress she showed me, similar to the one pictured, screamed Jessica Rabbit to me; hot, seductive and sultry. Now of course, her mother doesn’t want her teenage daughter looking like a femme fatale, but the hairstyle we are choosing for her prom suits the look of the gown.

My general rule of thumb is hair down with a strapless gown, but other factors need to be considered when choosing prom hairstyles, such as neck length, face shape, hair length and hair texture.

For Chris’s prom hairstyle, we will be creating soft waves with a dip at the bang, similar to Reese Witherspoon’s 2013 Oscar hairstyle, however in a shorter version. She will look for a fashion pin that matches the gem-work on her stunning gown and voila, the perfect prom hairstyle for short hair.
