Wedding Day Hair Survival Guide: Tips For Perfect Bridal Hair

Your wedding day hair survival guide is here. Enjoy tips for perfect bridal hair. Whether your big day is in the midst of a humid summer or a torrential downpour, Ask the Pro Stylist has help for beautiful wedding day hair.

Happy Tuesday beautiful, and welcome to Ask the Pro Stylist’s weekly how-to. This Tuesday offers a wedding day hair survival guide that will keep your locks impressive no matter the weather.

Yes, June through October is the wedding season. However, brides brave all types of weather to say “I Do!” As a former wedding specialist, I have the ultimate wedding day hair survival guide. Additionally, Pureology Artistic Ambassador Ruth Roche provides some of her professional bridal hair tips using Pureology products.

For 10 years I was the “ultimate bridesmaid.” Not only did I do the bride and bridal party’s hair and makeup, but I also went to the ceremony and venue, touching her up until the first dance. Additionally, I co-owned one of the best DJ/Entertainment companies on Long Island, famous for elegant emcees. Frank is the current owner of FM Entertainment, providing optimal wedding music. Therefore, it is safe to say I know my way around a wedding.

Not all weddings need to cost an arm and a leg. You can save money with a few tips prior to the big day. In Ruth’s wedding day hair survival guide, she suggests to prepare your hair to be its healthiest, not necessarily its lengthiest.

According to Roche, “You want your hair to look it’s healthiest on the day. Therefore, it’s crucial to take care of your hair and use the right products prior to your wedding.”

Many brides grow their hair out in order to achieve elaborate hairstyles and, in an effort, avoid trims altogether. This results in breakage and spilt ends. Use a strength-building regimen like Pureology’s Strength Cure system, which uses Asta-Repair™ to heal, strengthen, and protect from colour oxidation. As your hair grows, protect it from heat and damage with Pureology Strength Cure Fabulous Lengths. Heal split ends using Pureology Strength Cure Split End Salve.

I suggest a healthy trim every 8 weeks. Read about hair growth here. I also advise to plan a regimen with your stylist for optimal bridal hair.

This Long Island summer has been a brutally hot and humid one. To combat frizz, prepare the hair beforehand. Discuss your options with your stylist during your consultation.

Says Ruth, “Your best bet could be to wear your hair up. No matter your final look, your first line of defense will be Pureology’s Smooth Perfection Style + Care Infusion. Emulsify a small amount in your palms and smooth evenly onto damp hair. Comb through then blow dry and style however you wish. The Style + Care Infusion will protect and seal the hair cuticle in addition to preventing frizz. It won’t weigh your hairdo down. It will also leave your hair looking product-free for the rest of the day.”

If you feeling the Kim K vibe and want a hairstyle quick change, Roche suggests a versatile look. “Wear your hair in a style that can be worn in a twisted chignon, with the front already done for a half-up half-down look. Use Pureology’s Colour Stylist Strengthening Control Hairspray to hold the style. But, drop down the chignon at the back and gently rake through with your fingers to create waves. Lightly mist the hair again for lasting hold without stiffness to keep the half-up half-down look.”

If you are going it alone, be sure to pack an arsenal of tools. Give the bag to a wedding attendant to hold in the bridal suite. Some items to include are hairspray, wipes, comb, brush, bobby pins, hairpins, tissues, curling iron, toothbrush, and toothpaste. Additionally keep clear nail polish, perfume, deodorant, phone charger, compact, lipstick, blush, concealer, eyeliner, eye shadow, mascara, stain remover, pain reliever, and so much more.
