Wedding Hairstyles How-to: Tousled Side Updo

There are so many wedding hairstyles to choose from, it’s enough to make a bridezilla breathe fire. Don’t stress, as the next few weeks will showcase a series of wedding hairstyles in this beauty column. The first wedding hairstyle is of a tousled side updo, perfect for bridal gowns with lots of detail in the bodice, neck and back. Welcome to how-to Tuesday where Ask the Pro Stylist details how-to recreate a look at home, or reiterates style guides from other hair professionals for those in the industry to use on clients. This week begins a five-part bridal collection series with wedding hairstyles from Lizzie Liros. The first from Lizzie’s Runway Bride Collection is a tousled side updo with height. It is perfect for the wedding gown with extreme detail where hair that is down could interfere with the intricacies of the dress. It also adds an inch or more for the petite bride. The remaining four looks of gorgeous bridal hair tutorials will be featured here sequentially in the upcoming weeks.

To prepare the hair, spray with White Sands Undercover Blow-Waving Lotion. Dry hair upside down to give maximum root lift.
As the head is upside down, tease the entire head of hair as much as possible.
After a heavy backcomb, while the head is still upside down, place an elastic on the ends of the hair to create what looks like a little ponytail. Ensure the front section of hair is pulled directly back away from the face.
Flip head upright so that the ponytail now looks like a cone.
Tuck the ends of the ponytail back into the body of the hair to hide the elastic and drop the hair to the side. The wedding hairstyle will look like it’s falling out, which is the desired effect.
Lightly position any loose hair around the front of the face into place and finish with a light spray of White Sands Infinity Hair Spray to hold number one of the five wedding hairstyles in place.
