Wet Faux Bob Hair Tutorial: How-to Create the Wob

Wet Faux Bob Hair Tutorial: How-to Create the Wob

The wet faux bob is a trendy look for summer, perfect for humid weather. In this Tuesday’s how to hair tutorial, Ask the Pro Stylist will attempt to simply explain how to recreate the wob or a curly faux bob at home.

The faux bob is a great way to sample a shorter hairstyle, without cutting the hair and an ideal prom hairstyle. Variations of the faux bob have been seen on celebs such as Taylor Swift, Amy Adams and Lea Michele at the 2014 Kids’ Choice Awards.

The wet faux bob is sexy, think Beyoncé at the Grammys, and an easy hairstyle for the summer and the humid months, especially if your hair has a natural wave or curl.

  1. Apply White Sands Porosity The Fix to freshly shampooed hair. Just because the wet faux bob has the appearance of damp hair, doesn’t mean it should be frizzy. The Fix tames frizz.
  2. Dry the hair with a diffuser, or, as I did for the attached photos, towel dry the hair and then blow dry about 10% of the hair.
  3. Spray Aquage Sea Salt Texturizing Spray, or your favorite curl enhancer, and scrunch in for beautifully forms waves.
  4. Pull the hair into a ponytail and then wrap it in a bun. (Leave this step out for the wet look.)
  5. Hours later unravel the bun and apply BioSilk Silk Therapy. Apply hair oil or styling cream if the hair was only diffused.
  6. Make three sections, wrap in loose ponytails, and backcomb the hair that will be tucked slightly.
  7. Roll each section under and secure with hairpins, leaving out the sides and scrunching with a tad more oil.

To create a wet faux bob or wob, follow the above, but don’t allow the hair to be as thoroughly dried,  and add extra styling cream or oil for a wetter look. Roll the hair under and secure with hairpins as you leave out some sidepieces. Voila, you have one of the hottest hair trends of the season, perfect for humid summer weather.
